Blogs and Wikis
I did not like blogs and wikis at first. I really thought they had no place in the world of technology. I was told by a colleague how she incorporated a blog to get feedback from students, and she was intrigued by how they responded. So, I began my own blog and it really worked. Wikis had to grow on me because I had gotten misinformation before, but its just like the internet, you have to search out what you get to make sure its factual.

I think you are exactly right about searching for factual information on any of these new technologies before you make up your own mind. Until this class, I thought that all blogs were good for was Hollywood gossip and celebrities moaning about how much they hate each other. Now I see that blogs absolutely have a place in education.

What were some of the things you were told about blogs and wikis that you later found out were not true?
I've actually found wikis to be more productive than blogs for the long term.

I agree that wikis are more productive than blogs.
I think the misinformation was based on definition. I wasn't sure what they were.

I'm still thinking about the use of wikis for my non-traditional adult graduate students. Presently I'm thinking that I would begin with weblogs and in their last two semesters moved to wikis. I think they probably need some time to adjust to all of the technology that inundates them when they begin graduate studies after a long hiatus in the professional work world. What he think?
